Marimekko Boston Store Opening

Marimekko, the Finnish design and apparel company known for their bold and colorful prints and patterns, is opening at 140 Newbury Street on August 8th.  We invite all to join us for our Grand Opening celebrations!!

Wednesday, August 8th from Noon-1PM:
Join us in-store to meet and hear from Marimekko designer Aino-Maija Metsola.  She will take us through the mind of the designer and what inspires her as she creates new prints and patterns.  Customers will be able to ask her questions directly and hear firsthand from a Marimekko artist!

Thursday, August 9th from Noon-2PM:
Purchase any fabric and The Back Bay Framery will be onsite to turn your prints in to canvas stretched art!  Enjoy your favorite Marimekko patterns throughout your homes, or get one as a gift!  Perfect for a college dorm or first home!

Friday, August 10th from Noon-1PM:
President and Executive Director of the Back Bay Association, Meg Mainzer-Cohen, will be in-store to discuss the History of Newbury Street and the Back Bay neighborhood. Ask her questions and learn about the wonderful, historic area we now all call home!

Saturday, August 11th starting at Noon:
Cakes, Cakes, CAKES!  Enjoy treats from our neighbor Georgetown Cupcakes and check out the fabric cakes created by our team in Helsinki. Customers will be able to vote on their favorite Marimekko cake in-store for a chance to win a $100 Marimekko gift card!

Sunday, August 12th from Noon-1PM:
From Finland with Love: Design Research and Marimekko.  Join independent curator and textiles, fashion, and design history researcher Susan Ward, in-store for an exploration of the history of Marimekko in the United States, and the instrumental role Design Research played in bringing the Finnish design company to the States.  Susan will also share a few favorite vintage pieces from her collection.
